G101 is happy to be hosting a day of VERSeFest (2015) events: Saturday, March 28, 2015 1PM: KADO with Grant Savage and Marshall Hryciuk Apart from hearing Grant's excellent haiku about Algonquin Park, Marshall Hryciuk will be talking about a lesser known Japanese form, renku. It's a kind of party led by a 'master' who leads in a series of short linked poems. You don't have to know how to write haiku to be part of it, and it is a lot of fun. Master suggests that the next verse (of two or three lines) should be about a certain subject, say winter, and about unrequited love. Everyone scrambles to write that verse and give it to the master who chooses the best one. This continues through many verses, and the result is read, along with the names of the successful writer. Marshall will launch a book containing fifteen renku that he has led, and everyone gets to see how it all fits together. 3PM: Student Showcase (en français) avec Emily McRae, Frederic Lanouette, Geneviève Bouchard, et Kathleen Goulet For more info about the poets, please visit: http://versefest.ca/year/2015/schedule/?day=Mar28 For more info about VERSefest, please visit: http://versefest.ca/year/2015/about/
