Julie Lequin

Julie Lequin (born in 1979) is a Quebec artist who currently lives and works in Montréal. She received a BFA at Concordia University (Montréal, Québec) in 2001 and a MFA from the Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, California, United-States) in 2005. Her multidisciplinary practice includes: video art, performance, drawing, writing and the development and creation of props and costumes. Julie’s first book (and DVD project) was in 2007 by 2nd Cannons Publications (Los Angeles, CA). Julie has shown internationally: Los Angeles County Museum of Art (2006), White Columns, New York (2009), CGR Gallery, New York (2008), Art in General, New York (2009) and took part in the International Incheon Biennial, Incheon, South Korea (2009). Julie is the recipient of the Joseph-S.-Stauffer Award (2011), given by the Canada Council for the Arts. She is currently working on a new project and residency collaboration with the Lilith Performance Studio in Malmo, Sweden, for this fall.
